Chico Christian School was established in 1973 and is an outreach ministry of Neighborhood Church. We are located at 2801 Notre Dame Blvd, Chico, Ca. 95928
Our campus covers 32 acres of fields, landscaped beauty, and includes a lovely creek which runs through the campus.
Our program is for grades kindergarten through 8th grade, and we are privileged to provide education for many of our preschool students who attend Chico Christian Preschool.
All our classroom teachers hold a California Teaching Credential.
Our support staff consist of a health aid, a librarian, two PE teachers,a music teacher, a Spiritual Formation Director, three paid playground supervisors, a tech teacher, a drama teacher, a variety of elective class teachers, a Speech Therapist/special services teacher who offers support for students with learning disabilities, extended day care providers, and kindergarten aides.
Our program offers students a rigorous learning environment that addresses the types of skills needed by this information age. These skills include but are not limited to: building on students natural curiosity, teaching them to think critically and analyze data and determine what is actually true. We teach students to work cooperatively, how to resolve conflicts, and to treat others with dignity and respect. We also teach life skills that will help them be successful in peer relationships, marriage, and the work force. In addition, we offer a wide variety of elective classes that include Spanish, drama, art, ceramics, and many others.
Our primary focus is on teaching to the whole child with an emphasis on the spiritual, as who we are in Christ determines all our other decisions. Our teaching focuses on who God is and who He says we are. We teach Biblical truth throughout the day in teachable moments as well as with direct instruction and a Bible memory program. We recognize the significance of the relationship between teachers and students and the modeling of Christ like behavior and mentoring is a big part of what we do.
We value the opportunity to serve the family as well as the students and offer a variety of ways for parents to be involved in their child’s education. We see parents as the childs first and most important teacher and see our partnership as vital to the success of each child.
