Chico Christian School has chosen to use the SPARK physical education curriculum as the way to teach children the importance of physical activity, the benefits of healthy eating, and the roll the both play on our bodies.
SPARK is a research-based curriculum that focuses on students daily physical activity, introducing and refining movement skills, teaching students a variety of sports, and giving students the tools to have healthy lifestyle management skills. These concepts are introduced at the K-2 level with Ms. Kate Reeves, refined and applied at the 3-5 grade level with Mrs. Katie Leach, and applied and enhanced with Mr. Dunn at the middle school level.
At Chico Christian School we believe that God has given us our bodies as a gift and we are to steward that gift well. We believe kids' active bodies have active minds so that learning can be optimized and ultimately God is glorified.
Brandon Dunn Director of Physical Education
Chico Christian School K-2 Physical Education
The goals for the physical education of K-2 children at Chico Christian School are health enhancement, fun and social interaction, and the realization that our bodies are temples of the Lord.
Chico Christian School's physical education curriculum includes SPARK Physical Education & Wellness. SPARK is grounded within making PE inclusive, active, and fun. The curriculum takes the students through general space and creative moves, parachutes, kicking and trapping, dance, and games and other creative activities. Over the course of the year these children will be provided a comfortable environment and taught the importance of teamwork and respect. Our CCS children will grow in competency and proficiency through various movement forms and the benefits of a physically active lifestyle.

Chico Christian School Grades 3-5 Physical Education
God created the body to move! Physical activity is a fun and necessary part of life, as well as an integral part of a well-rounded education, enhancing brainpower, motivation and health. Spiritual growth, emotional balance, discipline, movement, nutrition and positive thinking are all key components of a holistic life. We help children develop these characteristics at an early age through our SPARKS curriculum.
