Field Trips at Chico Christian School

Field trips are an important part of a child's education. It helps them learn about the world around them - history, nature, science, technology and the arts.

Elementary School

Kindergarten
Pumpkin Patch; CSU Chico: Imago Theater; the Tree Farm in Paradise; Barnes & Noble w/our 6th grade buddies; the Fire Station; Cal Skate; Chico State University: School House Rock, Jr.; Sacramento Zoo & Fairy Tale Town.

1st Grade
Bishop's Pumpkin Farm (Wheatland); CSU Chico - Laxson Auditorium; Grey Lodge Wildlife Refuge; Windchimes Care Facility: Jesus Center

2nd Grade
Shasta Caverns; pumpkin patch; Feather River Fish Hatchery; usually a CSUC event (not this year though); a trip to a local farm or orchard to learn about harvest, packing and shipping techniques; Public Safety Awareness Day; Chico Creek Nature Center; Turtle Bay; Cal Skate

3rd Grade
Butte County Library; Schreder Planetarium in Redding; Pumpkin Patch with Buddies; Bidwell Park Observatory; The Nutcracker CSUC Performance; Peking Acrobats; Maidu Shelter in Upper Bidwell Park; Bidwell Mansion; Kirshner's Wildlife Foundation; Chinese Temple; Cal Skate; and the Chico Museum

4th Grade
Trappers Camp, Sacramento Trip which includes Sutter's Fort & Capital; Gold Nugget Museum; CSU Chico performance; Cal Skate

5th Grade
Butte College science lab for our Chemistry unit. Laxson Auditorium for Chico performances. Turtle Bay, Gateway Science museum.

Middle School

6th Grade
Geology Hike; 6th grade math competition

7th Grade
Worm Farm; De Young Museum/ San Francisco/ Chinatown; Renaissance Faire

8th Grade
Monterey Bay Aquarium; Civil War Reenactment; Sacramento History Trip; CSU Debate; De Young Museum/ San Francisco/ Chinatown

All Middle School Grades
A few select CSU performances; Mexico Trip to work at the orphanage for students who elect to attend; swim in the creek for PE or elective classes; end of the year parties off campus; Wilderness Experience Hike; Lunch with teacher off campus; Cal Skate; Science Fair; Jesus Center; Minds in Motion—Engineering Presentation at CSU labs; Nursing Home Visit; Chico State Math Project Trip; Theatre etc; Chico Museum; Pumpkin Patch; Bowling; Engineering Field trip

The middle school students also attend JH Ranch the week of Labor Day. This camp is located in Etna, CA, and is as close the Garden of Eden as one can get! The students experience night hikes, ropes courses, chapels twice a day, devotions, community building, teamwork, fantastic food and so much more! It is our "Environmental-Science Camp field trip."
